Mandrakes are helpful plants that you can find, buy, or grow in Hogwarts Legacy and it only takes a few simple steps.
Every Harry Potter fan remembers the high-pitched shrieking cry of mandrakes, which in Hogwarts Legacy can quickly stun, damage, and even kill nearby opponents.
These humanoid plants are a hot commodity, because besides using them as a weapon you’ll also need them to learn new spells from Professor Garlick.
There are a couple of ways to get your hands on them, so let’s start with the quickest one…
Where can you get mandrakes in Hogwarts Legacy?
First you need to make sure you have a few hundred galleons in your pocket, as mandrakes and their seeds are often quite costly.
You can buy two mandrakes for 500 galleons each at the Dogweed and Deathcap shop in Hogsmeade, located at the northernmost point of the village.
Alternatively, you can grow your own plants by purchasing mandrake seeds priced at 800 galleons.
To plant these seeds, you need to head to the Room of Requirement and interact with the herbology station.
You can plant mandrakes in any sized pot, including the small pot you first acquire during Herbology class.
Once you upgrade to a potting table with large pots, it will only take you 10 minutes to grow one batch of Mandrakes in the small pot.
To get even more mandrakes, you can buy fertiliser from Dogweed and Deathcamp or The Magic Neep for 300 galleons to increase the yield of the plants.
Last but not least, you can also find and uproot mandrakes in northern areas of the Forbidden Forest.
However, if you’re not very confident in your spell casting skills you should be careful of what’s lurking out there, like trolls and other foes.
If you’re up for a challenge, you can kill two birds with one stone and also collect some troll bogeys.
When following the main story quests, obtaining and using plants like mandrakes is often necessary for learning new spells.
For instance, for Professor Garlick’s first assignment, acquiring and using Mandrake plants is a prerequisite for unlocking the Wingardium Leviosa spell as a reward.
