Paramount’s Prime Gun: Maverick and took the marquee movie prize on the Cinema Audio Society’s 59th annual CAS Awards, which have been handed out Saturday evening on the Intercontinental Downtown Los Angeles.
The race for the CAS’ marquee Movement Image: Stay Motion statuette noticed the sound-mixing groups behind the 2 top-grossing movies of 2022 — Avatar: The Method of Water and Prime Gun: Maverick — towards All Quiet on the Western Entrance, Elvis and The Batman. All 5 are also up for the Finest Sound Oscar.
Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio continued its string of awards-season wins by taking the CAS Award for Animated Movement Image. The primary movie award of the evening, for Documentary, went to the sound workforce behind Neon’s David Bowie pic Moonage Daydream.
The TV prizes went to Solely Murders within the Constructing (half-hour), the now-wrapped AMC drama Higher Name Saul (one hour), Disney+ drama Obi–Wan Kenobi and Netflix’s System 1: Drive to Survive.
Alejandro González Iñárritu obtained the Filmmaker of the Yr Award for Bardo, and the 2023 CAS Profession Achievement Award was introduced to five-time Oscar-nominated manufacturing sound mixer Peter J. Devlin.
